We have a fun new channel on our Discord server, called 🤔-fvs-design-critique !!!
You probably have seen our Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/flexiblevisualsystems/ where I post every now and then, Identity Systems I saw and liked. Still, if I am really honest, it is more advertisement to make people aware of us than a proper “social” channel. There is no genuine conversation taking place that will enhance our learning. It’s visual entertainment for a moment, and then you keep scrolling.
This is why I am starting this channel. I will post projects that I find interesting, inspiring, and insightful for us to discuss. You can post projects too! I just made the start. Anything can be discussed, aesthetics, functionality, ethics, … we all influence the direction this takes. What is important to me is that we will do so in an intimate space where we are not afraid to be honest. Nothing we say on that channel is heard outside of our community. Any question can be asked. This channel is not about talking badly about anyone behind their backs; it is about having the space to be critical in a constructive way again. What would have been a heart emoji on Instagram can turn into a longer discussion from which we all will learn.
Additionally, shifting our focus towards Discord and away from social media will help us protect ourselves from the noise and engage in genuine conversations among like-minded people. Looking forward to having a chat with you on Discord.
