You cannot design something functional if you do not know your design’s function. Unfortunately, this function can be quite complex. If you are designing a visual identity, the primary function is to design a recognizable visual language, but which language makes the identity recognizable? It has to stick out from its environment and competitors and connect aesthetics and content with the target group. There must be a brief at the beginning of each design process. What does it need to contain?
